Registered apprenticeships

If your employer is interested in training you as a registered apprentice in an industrial trade, explore the options for registered apprenticeships.

Pre-trades certificates are for students who are interested in the trades but don’t have a lot of experience. To join a Pre-Trades program, you must apply for admission. Students are accepted each term:

  • Pre-Trade Pathway: accepts 28 students Fall, Winter and Spring term
  • Pre-Trades for Advanced Manufacturing: accepts 24 students Fall, Winter and Spring, 6 students Summer term

How to apply

  1. Apply to PCC

    Applying to PCC is free and only takes a few minutes. Complete this step as soon as possible so you can start using PCC resources.

    Complete prerequisites

    Complete the placement process. The prerequisites for this program:

    • Reading and writing: placement into RD/WR/IRW 90 or ESOL Level 8 or completion of ESOL Level 7
    • Math: placement into MTH 58/60 or completion of MTH 20
  3. Attend an information session

    Sign up for an information session at least one term in advance of when you want to start the program. The information session is required. The session will cover the tools and time commitment for this program. If there’s availability and prerequisites are met, you can join the program waitlist.

After the information session

After your info session, you will have access to a link to add your name to the waitlist. Applicants are added to the waitlist in the order received. If the program fills up, alternates who were not admitted will be at the top of the list for the next term. Applicants that do not meet the prerequisites will not be offered a spot in the program.
